It has been said that the Bluebird Trail at Mill Race Park is one of the best kept secrets of Atkinson. A 1/2-mile handicapped accessible cemented path winds through native trees and wildflowers encouraging walkers to stop and appreciate nature's beauty in its tranquil physical ecosystem. Along the pathway, notation signs describe terrain features. Also notes is a brush pile for wildlife habitat, snags and certified Monarch garden. Bluebird boxes line the pathway on the north, east and south. Four all-season benches are distributed along the pathway for walkers to stop and rest. Designed for ease in walking the trail also is shaded in many areas giving protection from the sun.
