Experience nature in Nebraska at this 1,160-acre tallgrass prairie sanctuary three miles south of Denton with miles of walking trails and beautiful scenic vistas. Free admission. Trails open year-round dawn to dusk. Visitor center hours: Mon-Fri 8:30 am-4:30 pm, Sat-Sun 8:30 am-12:30 pm (closed holidays). Visitor center has interactive nature exhibits and gift shop; building can be rented for meetings, receptions, and other gatherings. Many family and community programs held on- and off-site throughout the year, see our website for details. A bird watcher's delight with over 235 observed species. Hundreds of species of wildflowers and grasses in bloom during growing season. Also present are historic 19th-century wagon ruts from the Nebraska City/Fort Kearny Cutoff to the Oregon Trail. Spring Creek Prairie is part of the NATIONAL AUDUBON SOCIETY and a network of nearly 50 nature centers across the United States.
