The northern-most Homestead Trail portion is owned by the Lower Platte South NRD and is an extension of the City of Lincoln's Jamaica North Trail. It extends along a former Union Pacific rail line from just south of 25th & Saltillo Road to Cortland, NE, a distance of about 13 miles. Parking is available at Saltillo Road and at Roca. The trail continues through Beatrice to Marysville, KS, a distance of more than 60 miles and other portions of the trail are owned and maintained by other entities. Homestead offers great natural and agricultural scenery.
