Located 18 miles south of Ord, Davis Creek Recreation Area is an outdoor gem. Just 5.5 miles off of Nebraska Hwy 11 south of the community of North Loup, Davis Creek Recreation Area is open 24 hours and is great for wildlife viewing, water sports, camping and fishing. Fish species in the 1,100-acre lake include crappie, yellow perch, channel catfish, bullhead, largemouth bass and carp. The reservoir has a large walleye population, a fact that some locals may try to keep to themselves. A free fish cleaning station is available for anglers who prefer to keep their catch. Deer, turkey, coyotes and other animals thrive in the prairie surrounding the lake. These rolling acres form a wildlife management area that is also open to the public for birding, hunting, photography and exploration. Coin-operated showers and large campgrounds (with shade) make a trip to Davis Creek like an outdoor home away from home. Boat docks, and handicapped-accessible camping and fishing piers available.
