Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail is approximately 4,900 miles
long, extending from Pittsburg, Pennsylvania to the mouth of the Columbia
River, near present day Astoria, Oregon, following the historic outbound and
inbound routes of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. The trail connects 16 states
(Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri,
Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Washington,
and Oregon) and many Tribal lands. To learn more about this expedition or plan your own trip following the trail,
stop into the trail headquarters. Lewis & Clark NHT is located within the
National Park Service Midwest Regional Office along the beautiful riverfront in
Omaha, NE, right next to the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge. The visitor center
is open every day, 8:30-4:30. The visitor center will be closed on
Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Years Day holidays.
