LINCOLN, Neb. (September 16, 2019) – The first day of fall is fast approaching and the Nebraska Tourism Commission is here with a list of opportunities to celebrate and enjoy the season!
With quite the calendar of events this fall, you won’t be bored this season.
Applejack Festival – Nebraska City
September 20 – September 22
One of USA Today’s Top 10 Fall Festivals is back for its 51st year! The Applejack Festival is a “fruit-full” celebration that kicks off the year’s apple harvest with fun for the whole family and plenty of delicious apple-inspired dishes too.
Harvest Festival - Gothenburg
September 20 – September 22
This festival has been a town favorite for generations, so sit back and watch the parade, or take the kids to get their face painted and do arts and crafts. Don’t forget to get a team ready for the anticipated return of bed races down Avenue F.
Grown Ups’ Getaway at the Pumpkin Patch - Avoca
September 21
For a little fun without the family, enjoy a relaxing and fun adult’s only night out at Bloom Where You’re Planted Farm. Take a hayrack ride through the farm, play your favorite yard games or just relax, all while enjoying delicious food, beer and wine.
Nebraska’s Junk Jaunt – Central Nebraska
September 27 – September 29
Join in on the state’s largest garage sale as it loops through central Nebraska. No matter what you’re looking for, you’re sure to stumble upon treasures in one of the nearly 35 towns on the trip. On your jaunt, you’ll pass by other awesome Nebraska tourism destinations, so be sure to check them out!
Crete’s Great Pumpkin Festival - Crete
October 4 – October 6
This three-day festival has received national recognition for its jam-packed schedule of fantastic food, live entertainment and festivities for the whole family. Join in the fun by bringing a pumpkin or two to donate to local children during The Great Pumpkin Giveaway!
Harvest Fair and Market – Bayard
October 5
Come out to the farm and pick from over 60 different types of pumpkins, squash and gourds. The event also features face painting, pumpkin bowling and a painting class with artist Kelly Bhenke.
The Country Market Days - Pilger
October 5
Spend a laid-back day strolling through the over 100 vendors who supply unique and handmade items to bargain hunters from near and far. From home-cooked meals to refurbished antiques, you’ll make a day of this flea and farmer’s market.
Harvest Moon Festival - Hemingford
October 12
You’re in for a full day of fun for the whole family at the Harvest Moon Festival on the Box Butte Fairgrounds. Enjoy the festival’s impressive lineup of local entertainment and food and merchandise vendors. Attendees can also test their brewing ability with homemade beer and wine contests.
Nebraska and National Hand Cornhusking Contests – Gothenburg
October 19 – October 20
They don’t call Nebraska the Cornhusker state for nothing! With around 14 different class competitions, everyone can get involved in the festivities on Saturday, October 19. On Sunday, pickers from nine states will compete for best of the best corn husker! As usual, “go ‘skers!”
Goulish Garden Adventure – Omaha
October 27
Little ones can explore and learn at this Lauritzen Gardens event. Plenty of activity stations provide different experiences like seasonal arts and crafts and education about fall topics. You’re sure to have a spooking good time!
