Nebraska spring activities and events underway

LINCOLN, Neb. (April 4, 2017)— If you’re looking for something to do in the spring before the heat of summer begins, Nebraska has got you covered.
 
"Spring is a lively time in our state, more tourism destinations open up for the season and there are plenty of events going on," said Nebraska Tourism Commission executive director John Ricks, who's been on the job for a few months. "I'm looking forward to getting out and about to experience my first spring in Nebraska."

 
Here are some can’t miss spring events to keep you busy this season.

Junkstock (April 7-9) in Waterloo
A premier junk, music and food festival; Junkstock includes 200+ vendors, 18+ foodtrucks and live music to keep you entertained all weekend. https://visitnebraska.com/events/junkstock-spring-edition

Arbor Day Celebration (April 28-30) in Nebraska City
What better way to celebrate Arbor Day, than in the city where it was founded. Nebraska City celebrates Arbor Day with food, parades, craft shows and more. https://visitnebraska.com/events/arbor-day-weekend-celebration-at-arbor-day-farm-nebraska-city.

Nebraska Wine and Jazz Festival (May 12-13) in Kearney
This festival is perfect for wine lovers, with thirteen featured wineries, five microbreweries and live jazz music. http://www.wineandjazzfest.org/.

Cowboy Trail Peddle and Paddle (June 3) in Norfolk
Enjoy this event by racing or going at your own leisurely pace. Bike from Norfolk to Meadow Grove on the Cowboy Trail and then kayak back to Norfolk down the Elkhorn river. Sugar Valley Rally (June 2-4) in Scottsbluff
If you love classic cars, then this is the event for you. A 400-mile precision tour shows beautiful views of Nebraska and only cars older than 50-years can compete. http://www.sugarvalleyrally.com/

Go hiking or enjoy a day at the park
