LINCOLN, Neb. (February 1, 2022) - Nebraska Tourism today announced grant awards totaling $603,984.50 in the combined application cycle of the Community Impact and Tourism Marketing Grant programs. The Commission received a total of 76 applications this grant cycle requesting $1,503,051.54 in funding.
The Commission’s grant programs are very competitive and involve a selection committee of grant reviewers from the private and public sectors, and citizens at large.
“The purpose of the grant program is to help communities throughout the state market their destination or event to potential travelers. As we see more people looking at Nebraska as a travel destination, it’s important for communities to be able to showcase everything our unique state has to offer,” said John Ricks, Nebraska Tourism Commission executive director. “It was exciting to see some new places and events applying or trying out something new this year and we’re excited to see the impact it has on tourism in Nebraska.”
Awardees this grant cycle include:
- $55,000 to the Omaha Equestrian Foundation for promotion of the 2023 FEI Jumping and Dressage World Cup Finals
- $53,000 to Support Nebraska for promotion of the 2022 Pinnacle Bank Championship
- $25,000 to Cinco De Mayo Omaha for promotion of the 2022 event
- $25,000 to MECA Tri-Park Complex for promotion of The RiverFront
- $20,100 to Siouxland Freedom Park for marketing promotions
- $18,945 to Golden Spike Tower and Visitor Center for marketing promotions
- $18,375 to Arbor Day Foundation for marketing promotions
- $16,595 to North Platte/Lincoln County Visitors Bureau for marketing promotions
- $13,800 to Nebraska City Tourism & Commerce for marketing promotions
