FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LINCOLN, Neb. (October 16, 2020) - The Nebraska Tourism Commission’s application cycle is now open for both the Tourism Marketing Grant Program and Community Impact Grant Program. The programs offer funding opportunities to organizations to promote their events, destinations, community or region to travelers.

“The goal of the grant program is to help make it as affordable as possible for applicants to create and participate in marketing efforts that benefit their local communities,” said John Ricks, Nebraska Tourism Commission executive director. “We understand that the grant program is especially important this year with communities and businesses struggling due to the impacts of COVID-19. We are fortunate to still be able to open the grant cycle, although it will be on a smaller scale this year, due to the harsh budget effects of the pandemic on the tourism industry as a whole.”

The Tourism Marketing Grant Program encourages applicants to take part in a travel impact study to get detailed economic impact reporting of travel for cities and regions, attend the U.S. Travel Association’s Educational Seminar for Tourism Organizations or the American Bus Association Marketplace, advertise in the Nebraska Travel Guide and on VisitNebraska.com, take part in marketing efforts through the Commission’s social media programs and more.

Through the Community Impact Grant program, large-scale events can apply for marketing assistance to attract out-of-state visitors in an effort to generate favorable national or international press coverage for the state.

The grant cycle is open until December 11, 2020. Grant recipients will be announced on February 1, 2021. Click here to view the grant guidelines:
