FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LINCOLN, Neb. (August 31, 2021) - Registration is now open for the annual Nebraska Tourism Conference on October 19-21, 2021 in Grand Island.

“The tourism industry has been put through a lot over the last year and a half and we’re looking forward to coming together and learning new ways to adapt and continue to bring visitors to the state of Nebraska,” said John Ricks, Nebraska Tourism Commission executive director.

This year’s conference combines the annual Nebraska Tourism Conference with the Agritourism and Adventure Travel Workshop that typically takes place in February. The conference will incorporate the workshop’s behind-the-scenes bus tours of successful tourism businesses as well as the popular Taste & Feel of Nebraska event where attendees can sample local food, beer and wine.

The keynote speakers this year are Jason Kotecki and Greg DeShields. For over 15 years, to over 750 organizations, Jason has offered real-world strategies and practical ideas to help individuals realize Adultitis-free lives, helping them beat burnout and become more innovative by breaking rules that don’t exist. Greg is the Executive Director at Tourism Diversity Matters and is a qualified Tourism/Hospitality and Academic Professional Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE) proficient in developing and implementing plans, strategies, and initiatives specifically designed to raise destinations’ images for diverse, multicultural travel.

Conference sessions cover a variety of topics including marketing tactics, travel trends, grant opportunities, diversity, equity and inclusion, event planning, regional collaboration and more. Attendees will also have a chance to network with other tourism industry professionals and sponsors during networking breaks.

The Nebraska Tourism Commission continues to monitor the rapidly evolving nature of COVID-19 and can change conference plans if necessary. Keep watch on the conference webpage for any updates.

Individual registration forms and payment must be received by Friday, October 15. If you are planning to participate in the bus tours on Tuesday, October 19, please register by Friday, October 1 to guarantee space availability.

Hotel reservations can be made at the Ramada by Wyndham Midtown Grand Island. Request the Nebraska Tourism Conference Room Block by Saturday, September 18 in order to receive the room block rate.
