St. James is the #9 site along the George Shannon Trail. This site marks the point in the Lewis and Clark expedition when Pvt. Shannon gets lost from the rest of the men. No one can find him, even after "Walking All Night" to look for him. Can you find Shannon? He is hiding in the marketplace.
St James Marketplace was formed in 2001 to try to save the small community after the closing of our rural church. The Marketplace is housed in the former Sts. Philip and James Parochial School, which is on the National Registry of Historic Places. The Marketplace has won many prestigious awards.
