Why I love NE

Why I love Nebraska……this was the county country road leading to our final stop: High Plains Homestead….on the map it’s in the Ogalala National Grasslands, so one might think…wow this is all one chunk of government land…?, Right? Well, the reality is it’s a complex web of government and privately owned properties……so, at times, the county “road” is just a series of cattle grads on a cow path through a rancher’s land….a ton of fun to explore; however, 4 wheel drive and lots of prayers are highly recommended especially when you meet the unsuspecting rancher cruising along in their pick up truck on these narrow and sometimes arduous roads, but a friendly whoa and a wave is all it takes to make this passage a safe and happy one!
