7 Spectacular Restaurants Across Nebraska

Food is a tricky thing. People have varying tastes and get hungry at different times. Some prefer busy, popular bistros while others prefer quiet, intimate steakhouses. Whatever your preferences, we’re here to help, which is why we humbly present these seven suggestions on where to dine while in each of Nebraska’s seven regions.

Northwest Region

Scottsbluff is way out in the western part of our wonderful state and is home to The Tangled Tumbleweed. This restaurant strives to provide an environment that fosters friendship and conversation by serving tapas rather than full-size meals. These shareable portions go splendidly with the selection of wines and beers.

Sandhills Region

Loup City sits on the banks of the Middle Loup River, and the aptly named Loup City Diner. Come for homestyle cooking and friendly atmosphere!

Southwest Region

Driftwood is a must-visit in Ogallala. It offers plenty of space to relax and enjoy your visit, and its menu includes everything from delicious burgers to Korean BBQ rib tips.

South Central Region

The Odyssey restaurant in Hastings is aptly named, because a meal there is a journey into amazing cuisine with a Midwest twist. Our lunch recommendation: “The Popper,” a burger served on a pretzel bun then topped with bacon, cream cheese and jalapeño jam.

Northeast Region

With a beautiful riverfront view of the Missouri, Kahill’s has the perfect atmosphere for an evening on the town. South Sioux City’s well-loved fine dining establishment specializes in ultra-fresh fish and, go figure, Nebraska beef.

Metro Region

Tucked in the Benson neighborhood of Omaha, Nebraska’s largest city, sits Yoshitomo, a James Beard semifinalist Japanese eatery. It hosts a can't-miss selection of sushi as well as sake, beer and spirits.

Southeast Region

Black Crow Restaurant and Bar, located in Beatrice, is a top-notch restaurant specializing in American and Mediterranean food. You’ll feel like royalty dining beneath the gold-leaf ceiling or grabbing a drink from the antique oak back bar. While it’s elegant, it’s certainly not overdone, and your food won’t be either.
