Experience These 7 Oddly Specific Museums in Nebraska!
Nebraska has museums for just about everything from quilts to petrified wood, Bigfoot to windmills…and the list keeps going. Here are a few that might make you stop and think, “wait, there’s a museum for that?”
Museum of the Fur Trade – Chadron
The earliest settlers and explorers were focused on one thing – fur. It’s only fitting that these folks should have an entire museum dedicated to their history and lives then, right?
Nebraska Bigfoot Crossroads of America – Hastings
This place might be the most thorough exhibit dedicated to Bigfoot we’ve ever seen. Actually, it definitely is, no question. If you’d like to get a taste of what it’s like in there, give this a read!
Museum of Shadows – OMAHA
By far the spookiest museum in the state, this place is all about hauntings, ghosts and the history associated with them. Be warned, this isn’t a museum for the faint of heart.
The Pedal Clinic – Pawnee City
For those of you who’d like to engage with your inner child, we present: The Pedal Clinic. They have over 400 vintage pedal cars, and yes, you read that number right.
Petrified Wood and Art Gallery – Ogallala
Petrified wood is a unique medium to highlight and this Ogallala museum does it well! They have pieces of petrified wood from all over the world, art made using it, plus other Native American artifacts sourced from the local area.
Kregel Windmill Factory Museum – Nebraska City
This museum is incredibly fascinating – it’s best described as though they shut the doors when the factory closed, then opened them when it became a museum. Virtually everything is the same, down to a vintage Nebraska City High School basketball schedule tucked away in a corner workbench!
National Museum of Roller Skating – Lincoln
An entire museum dedicated to roller skating? Why, you ask? Well...why not? Go ahead and wheel yourself down to this educational exhibit on the history of roller skating!
