Spanning 13 different states, the Lincoln Highway National Scenic & Historic Byway runs through Nebraska as what is now known as Highway 30. This route ventures through several small towns, each with its own unique charm. This byway is rich with history, offers beautiful scenery along the way and is abundant with things to do!

Blair

The town of Blair marks the start of the Nebraska portion of the Lincoln Highway National Scenic & Historic Byway. Take in the stunning views of the area’s rolling hills at Neidhardt Park or explore the beauty of the DeSoto Chute National Wildlife Refuge. Get creative and take an art class at the Creative Connection Studio Gallery or take a glance at the art on display made by 8 local artists.

Columbus

The perfect mix of history and fun can be found in the town of Columbus. Grab a bite to eat at Glur’s Tavern, the oldest continuously operated tavern west of the Missouri River. Spend some time outside at Lake Babcock and Lake North and enjoy the beautiful scenery around the lake. Discover the efforts that went into winning WWII along with a tribute to “the man who won the war for us” at the Andrew Jackson Higgins Memorial.

Kearney

Kearney marks the halfway point of the trip. Kearney has much to offer, with various museums that will pique anyone’s interest, delicious spots to eat, natural beauty, and rich history. Whether your watching the annual sandhill crane migration along the Platte River Valley or having a bite to eat at a local favorite like Cunningham’s Journal, Kearney has everything you need.

North Platte

Home to the famous “Buffalo Bill” Cody and the annual NEBRASKAland Days festival, North Platte is full of new things to see and do. For a large fenced zoo area, a historic carousel and more, make a stop at North Platte Cody Park, or swing by Cody Go-Karts for some more fast-paced fun- both perfect for the entire family. Check out Nebraska’s largest vineyard, Feather River Vineyard for the adults. Complete your visit with a meal and a beer brewed in-house at Pals Brewing Company.

Ogallala

This western Nebraska town is known for its wild west attractions along with Nebraska’s largest body of water, Lake McConaughy. Catch a glimpse of the town’s history at the historic Mansion on the Hill museum or at the Petrified Wood and Art Gallery. Watch a live western stage show complete with a delicious meal at Front Street and Cowboy Museum, or enjoy a specialty burger from Open Range, featuring locally raised beef!

Kimball

Kimball marks the last stop of the trip. Known as the “High point of Nebraska” Kimball is home to Panorama Point, which is the state’s highest point in elevation. Check out the Plains Historical Museum for a glimpse of what the area used to be like all the way back to the cowboy era.
