Fort Robinson State Park

From the days of the Old West to World War II, Fort Robinson has acted as everything from a cavalry station to a K-9 dog training center. A rich piece of American history, the park is now home to many historic spots and museums, as well as plenty of other fun activities. Take a horseback trail ride or Jeep tour through scenic buttes, a stagecoach ride through town, or enjoy a show at the Post Playhouse. With 80 miles of combined hiking and biking trails, there’s plenty of outdoor adventure to go around!

Chadron State Park

Explore Nebraska’s very first state park in the scenic canyons and buttes of the Pine Ridge area. Along with the Nebraska National Forest, the park features over 100 miles of hiking and biking trails, making it a popular destination for travelers looking for an outdoor adventure.

Smith Falls State Park

Nebraska’s newest state park, Smith Falls State Park, also boasts the title of state’s highest waterfall. In addition, the 76-miles of river east of Valentine is perfect for kayaking, canoeing or just plain floating along. Don’t forget to bring along your swimsuit for the scenic river and chilly falls.

Niobrara State Park

Visitors can enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, from wildlife watching to hiking and biking. Take a guided horseback trail ride through the beautiful Missouri River bluffs or attend a famous buffalo cookout on a summer Saturday night.

Ponca State Park

Located along the picturesque Missouri River, Ponca State Park has premier river access and wildlife viewing and education. Along with its many other activities, the park offers a shooting complex with all-weather ranges for archery, rifles, slingshots and more.

Eugene T. Mahoney State Park

Stay and play at Eugene T. Mahoney State Park, which features the beautiful Peter Kiewit Lodge, an aquatic center, the Owen Marina, Kountze Memorial Theater and the Walter Scott Jr. Observation Tower. A new addition to the park, Go Ape rope course, includes high ropes, suspended obstacles and zip lines making it the ultimate family adventure.

Platte River State Park

Enjoy views of the scenic Platte River Valley from the multiple lookout points or atop Lincoln Journal Tower at Platte River State Park. Spend the night in a newly renovated glamping cabin or traditional teepee and take a hike to the park’s picturesque waterfall.

Indian Cave State Park

Take in the historic and picturesque landscape of southeastern Nebraska at Indian Cave State Park. The park is known for its dense forestland and stunning views of the Missouri River, which make for truly amazing hikes on the park's 22 miles of trails. While you’re there, pay a visit to St. Derion, one of Nebraska’s most notorious ghost towns, and make your own old-time crafts during living history weekends.
