The York College Prayer Chapel is open daily for prayer and quiet meditation. It is also used regularly for special events such as weddings, recitals, lectures, and ceremonies. It is open to the public and may be reserved for special events by contacting Gayle Good, [email protected], 402-363-5621.
The chapel was originally constructed in 1901 as St. Paul's Lutheran Church near Thayer, Nebraska. That congregation closed its doors in 1965 and the building sat vacant until 1999 when it was moved to the York College campus. After several years of renovating the beautiful old structure (the wood floors, balcony woodwork, and edifice are all original to the building) the Prayer Chapel was dedicated on October 6, 2004.
